...all the way back to 2009!
The UMFÍ Youth Council’s youth conference was first held in 2009. From 2009 to 2022 it was called Ungt fólk og lýðræði (Youth and Democracy), and since 2023 it has been called Ungt fólk og lýðheilsa (Youth and Public Health), reflecting a greater focus on well-being, relationships and a holistic approach to young people’s issues.
The topic of the conference changes from year to year and reflects what matters most to young people at the time. The conference has been held all around the country, but in recent years at Reykir in Hrútafjörður.
Here you will find information about the topics and main conclusions of each conference.

Participants were divided into six home groups, each named after a colour. The groups were given the task of creating a performance or product describing what they had learned at the conference. Three groups made a video, one group made a poster and two groups performed a song and dance.
