School Camp at Reykir
There is a lot to consider before a group of students comes to the UMFÍ School Camp at Reykir. Foresight and good preparation always work best. Principals and group leaders are encouraged to read all the information carefully. You are also welcome to contact Sigurður Guðmundsson, the camp director, if anything is unclear. His email address is siggi@umfi.is

Only primary school principals can book a stay for school groups. Principals interested in a stay are asked to contact Sigurður Guðmundsson, the camp director, at siggi@umfi.is.
Each school must provide group leaders to accompany the group. Ideally, the core of the group leader team should be the teachers of the students who are booked. A good rule of thumb is one group leader for every twenty students. When applying, the school must state who will be the head group leader, responsible for preparing the students and the group leader team. Group leaders cover off-duty shifts and look after the students in their free time. Camp staff run the courses, which usually take place from 9:30 to 17:00 during the day.
Schools are responsible for their own transport to and from the camp. Arrival is at 11:00 on Monday and departure is at 16:00 on Thursday.
When a principal books a stay, they are considered to have accepted the rules and arrangements of the camp.
The price per student is ISK 38,000. Teachers and accompanying adults pay nothing.
Please contact the camp director for further information about bookings.

If students cause damage at the camp, whether intentionally or not, the school is responsible for making sure it is compensated. The camp director prepares a damage report, of which both parties receive a copy, and the school is then sent an invoice for the damage.
If a student needs to be sent home, the school is responsible for getting the student home. The school must have procedures in place for this before departure.
Information on the number of participants must be submitted to the camp director in good time.

The group leader is responsible for communicating with the camp while preparing the stay. The group leader must contact the camp director at least three weeks in advance and confirm the expected number of students. A room allocation is then sent to them.
Ideally, the head group leader should stay at the camp the whole time.
The head group leader is responsible for preparing the group leader team that comes to the School Camp at Reykir. They are responsible for making sure the team is well prepared and that everyone has read the group leader handbook carefully.
Experience shows that it is not a good idea to change group leaders during the week. It is not good for the group leaders who are there all week to have others coming and going. It is best if all group leaders stay at Reykir the whole time.
Arrival is at 11:00 on Monday, departure at 16:00 on Thursday.Group leaders are encouraged to read the GROUP LEADER HANDBOOK (in Icelandic) carefully before arriving at Reykir.

We put great emphasis on making sure that the teachers who accompany school groups feel comfortable at the School Camp at Reykir. We have set up special lounges for teachers where they can relax, have a coffee and chat between shifts.
Teachers’ rooms have duvets and bed linen.
We greatly appreciate any suggestions on what could be improved. Please let us know!

Cases of violence or bullying must be reported to the appropriate parties. Here you can see how a report can be passed through safe channels to those responsible, and then to the Communication Advisor, who assists in handling such cases.
See the reporting procedure as an image.
Please note that you can start anywhere in the process. The most important thing is that there is trust between the parties. You can also contact the Communication Advisor directly.
