Regulation on honours

  1. Article. UMFÍ honorary member
The UMFÍ Board and/or Federation Congress may name honorary members of UMFÍ.

The UMFÍ Board proposes honorary members. Honorary members shall normally be elected at UMFÍ Federation Congresses. However, in special circumstances the UMFÍ Board may elect honorary members. At a ceremony, honorary members shall receive the UMFÍ Honorary Member’s Cross, the organisation’s highest honour.

Only those who have done decades of beneficial work for UMFÍ, held a major position of responsibility and been of invaluable service to the movement shall be named honorary members. Honours shall normally be awarded to those who have previously received the UMFÍ Gold Badge. This honour may also be given to notable pioneers of the movement.

Honorary members have all the rights of youth association members but are free from obligations. Honorary members shall be invited to all UMFÍ Federation Congresses, Federation Council Meetings and all major UMFÍ events.
The UMFÍ service centre receives nominations for Gold and Service Badges, assesses whether they meet the conditions set out in the annex and submits them to the UMFÍ executive board for decision.

  2. Article. UMFÍ Gold Badge
The UMFÍ Gold Badge is UMFÍ’s second-highest honour. The Gold Badge is awarded to those who have done strong work for the youth association movement over many years, held leadership roles in their region or within UMFÍ, or worked diligently on or taken part in UMFÍ projects for decades. This recognition may also be awarded on special occasions that the board considers appropriate. Gold Badges shall normally be awarded to those who have previously received the UMFÍ Service Badge.

The UMFÍ executive board awards the UMFÍ Gold Badge to individuals.

  3. Article. UMFÍ Service Badge
The UMFÍ Service Badge may be awarded for excellent leadership in a club, a club department or at federation level, for notable campaigns or innovations, for good activity or results in organisational and community work, such as serving on boards or committees, and for a major contribution to youth and sports work.

The UMFÍ executive board awards the UMFÍ Service Badge to individuals.

  4. Article. UMFÍ Plaque of Thanks
The UMFÍ Plaque of Thanks may be awarded to any party or institution that has been strongly involved in UMFÍ projects or shown the youth association movement good support. The recipient does not need to be a youth association member or belong to the movement. The UMFÍ Board awards the UMFÍ Plaque of Thanks.

  5. Article. Honours Council
The UMFÍ Board appoints the UMFÍ Honours Council, which shall consist of three people. The Honours Council advises the UMFÍ Board and executive board on the awarding of honours.
