Sigurður Óskar was elected to the UMFÍ deputy board in 2015 and served there for two terms. Since 2019 he has sat on the UMFÍ main board and been board secretary. Sigurður Óskar is from Ungmennafélagið Máni, a member club of Ungmennasambandið Úlfljótur (USÚ) in Hornafjörður. He sat on the board of Ungmennafélagið Máni in 2005–2020 and has served as treasurer of USÚ since 2011. At one time or another, Sigurður held every possible role on Máni’s board – except treasurer.
